- Mughalsarai town, located 18 km east of the holy city of Varanasi is the birthplace of the Jan Sangh’s founder Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay..
- Mughalsarai Junction was set up in 1862 by the British administration to build a railway track connecting Delhi to Calcutta. It is located on the Grand Chord Line and is the fourth busiest junction in India.
- Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik gave his consent to the propsal to rename none of the busiest railway stations in India, Mughalsarai, as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.
