- Soharai art, done primarily by the women of Jharkhand, is a tribal art, practice started in Badam area of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, several years ago.
- Traditionally the form of painting was done primarily by women as a practice of Gahar Puja on the next morning of Diwali.
- The motifs are drawn using mixtures made of coal and various soils depict narratives, stories and folk traditions through pictures.
- It is said this art form is disappearing in the caves of oblivion and that the next generation will find Soharai in the pages of history only.
