- India ranked 136 in the World Press Freedom Index, three points down than last year.
- Norway is in the apex and North Korea in the bottom of the 180 list of nations.
- Released annually by Reporters Without Borders the Index ranks 180 countries according to the level of freedom available to journalists.
- Till this date eight journalists have lost their lives while reporting conflicts, and 193 journalists are lodged in jails worldwide.
