First Company of Ganga Task Force deployed Ganga Gram Yojana launched
The Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti launched Ganga Gram Yojana at Village Puth in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
- Under the scheme, 1600 villages of UP situated along the banks of river Ganga will be developed.
Highlights of the Ganga Gram Yojana
- In the first phase of the progamme, 200 villages have been selected
- In these villages, open drains falling into river Ganga will be diverted and alternative arrangements for sewage treatment will be
- The villages will have toilets in every house
It is proposed to incur the expenditure of 1 crore rupees on every village.
Mission Indradhanush added Four new vaccines
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare has announced that a set of four new vaccines will be added soon under “Mission Indradhanush”.
As a part of India’s newborn action plan,inactivated polio vaccine, adult Japanese Encephalitis vaccine, Rotavirus vaccine and Measles Rubella vaccine will be added.

About the Program
The Ministry of Human Resource Development in association with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Home affairs is organizing the programme. This is a five days program starting from 22nd January 2016.
Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitiwill took part in the program. This sort of programs boosts the morale of our soldiers and develops felling of patriotism among the students.

Jharkhand became first state to implement DBT in Kerosene
- Jharkhand became the first state in the country to implement Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT) in Kerosene.
The scheme would be implemented in four identified districts of the state from 1st of October 2017. These districts are Chatra, Hazaribagh, Khunti and Jamtara.
Cabinet approves New Productivity Linked Reward Scheme for port and dock workers
- The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has given its approval to New Productivity Linked Reward (PLR) Scheme for all Major Port Trusts and Dock Labour Board employees/workers for the years 2015-16 to 2017-18.
- The new PLR scheme will benefit about 37870 Port and Dock workers/employees in all the Major Port Trusts and the yearly outgo will be Rs. 49.58
- It will be calculated on the enhanced wage ceiling for calculation of Bonus at 7000/-per month.
It shall be paid annually on the basis of 50% weightage given to all India Performance and 50% weightage given to the individual Port Performance.
Government launches Biotech-KISAN scheme to empower farmers.

Janani Suraksha Yojana paid dividends: Study
- A new study brought in first conclusive evidence of the role played by Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) in reducing ‘socioeconomic disparities’ existing in maternal
- The JSY was launched in 2005 as part of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to improve maternal and neonatal health by promotion of institutional deliveries (childbirth in hospitals).
- As per the latest Lancet report on maternal health, India accounted for 15 % of the total maternal deaths in the world in 2015 i.e.,45,000 women dying during pregnancy or childbirth. It is second only to Nigeria.
